How do you crush plastic for recycling?

Recycling plastic involves a series of steps and specialized equipment. Here's an overview of how plastic gets recycled:

Collection and Sorting: Plastic waste from diverse sources is sorted by type (like PET, HDPE, PVC) to ensure similar plastics are processed together, enhancing recycled material quality.

Shredding or Crushing: Plastic enters a crusher or shredder, using mechanisms like rotating blades or hammers to break it into smaller pieces or granules.

Adjusting machine settings controls the output size.

Granulation: Some plastics proceed to a granulator for further size reduction into smaller, uniform granules, preparing them for subsequent stages.

Washing and Cleaning (Optional): Crushed plastic may undergo washing to remove contaminants, enhancing the purity of the recycled material.

Drying: Wet granules are typically dried to remove moisture before further processing, ensuring optimal plastic condition.

Melting or Extrusion: Cleaned granules are melted or processed through extrusion, molding into new shapes or forms for creating products.

Recycling methods vary based on the facility, plastic types, and desired outcomes. However, the general process involves breaking down plastic, cleaning it, and using it as raw material for making new plastic

products.
